Reading: We will continue to compare and contrast two reading passages. We will also be identifying the main point of the whole text and the main point of each paragraph within the text.
Writing: We will be switching our focus from narrative writing to informational writing. Each student will be selecting a planet to research. The students will be using books and online resources to learn facts to later be included in an informational paper.
Spelling: Our Words Their Way sort will focus on vowel digraphs.
Math: Graphing and measurement will be combined as we continue to work with line plots. Students will be measuring different objects, either in centimeters, inches, or feet, and creating line plots to show how frequently each measurement occurred.
Science: We planted a variety of seeds in large cans after we returned from spring break. Once the seeds begin to grow, we will be transferring the plants to our garden and observing the changes that occur during a plant's life cycle. In addition to learning about the life cycle of plants, we are also learning about the life cycles of various animals. We started learning about the life cycle of butterflies last week. We will be able to closely examine the changes that occur in a butterfly's life cycle since our larva have arrived! We have several Painted Lady larva in our classroom that we will be observing for the next few weeks. In addition to learning about the life cycle of more animals, we will also be doing another STEM activity this week. Busy, busy!
