Our room parents have been busy planning a fun party for our kids. They have planned snacks, games, and crafts to keep everyone busy and having a good time! The second grade party will be on Friday, December 19th at 9:30 AM. All parents are welcome to attend the party, but please do not bring preschool siblings.
Many students LOVED the Hour of Code that we did on Wednesday. If your student wants to continue coding at home, here's the website: Hour of Code
Upcoming Standards:
Reading: Our shared reading mini-lessons will focus on determining the main idea or purpose of nonfiction text, using text features to understand nonfiction text, and using context clues to determine the meaning of unknown words.
Writing: The students have selected their own topics for informative books. They have organized their information and started writing chapter books filled with facts. They will continue writing more chapters, revising, and editing their books throughout the week.
Spelling: We will not have a spelling test this week.
Math: We will continue to focus on measurement. We will determine if items should be measured in inches or feet as well as practice measuring items with both units of measurement.
Science: We will continue to learn more about energy, specifically wind and water energy. We will also work on a STEM task related to energy.
